Ian Hendrickson-Smith stretches out with a soulful and blues drenched outing. ''The Lowdown'' features an all-star New York rhythm section featuring Rick Germanson on piano, John Webber on bass and Joe Farnsworth on drums. Joining Ian on the front line is tenor saxophonist is the album's executive producer, Cory Weeds.

The session was recorded at the infamous Rudy Van Gelder's recording studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
